JANUARY 13, 2023

All 7 Board Memebers (Mert Seaton, Brent Rinker, Jane Augstine, Lisa Meeks, Amy Hunsaker-Williams, Chris Schulze, Jeremy Ennis) attended.

Mert opened the meeting by asking if the board was OK with moving our meetings to Unity Church, due to scheduling conflicts at the Library. It was unanimously agreed to move the meetings to Unity with Kelly-Williams as a back up.

Miles Parks with the Parks Board emailed Mert to let him know that the park equipment is on order for Kirkwood Park; but no delivery date has been set yet. He will let us know when more info is available.

We are eligible to apply again for the Neighborhood Works grant. Various ideas were considered; but it was unanimously decided that since we do not have the 1st project finished, we should wait.

Mert checked with Brent about Fall Clean Up numbers; & Adopt A Street info. Brent said it's Adopt A Highway through MODot; & it would be on Glenstone between Sunset & Sunshine 4 times a year for 3 years. Suggested getting warning signs if we do it. Amy says her group has cleaned that area twice this year; so we would have help. Decided to bring up at meeting.

Mert suggested the Neighborhood Watch training class be brought up at January's meeting to decide if we should have one at a future meeting. The question of getting enough people involved was brought up. Brent made a motion to pursue the idea of having a class around March. Amy seconded it; & it was unanimously approved.

Harmony House & Springfield Kickball have asked if they could speak at our meetings. Harmony House had 7 different topics to choose from. Chris made a motion to invite Harmony House to speak at a meeting. Mert seconded it; & it was unanimously approved. Brent moved to invite Springfield Kickball to speak. Chris, Jeremy & Amy all called second at the same time; & it was unanimously approved.

Fire Dept. asked to speak on fire safety. Amy made a motion to invite the Fire Dept to speak. Jeremy seconded it; & it was unanimously approved.

Springfield Public Schools requested to speak on the bond issue. Mert made a motion to invite Springfield Public Schools to speak. Amy seconded it; & it was unanimously passed.

There is chatter on FB about the signs. Mert will be speaking with them next week to take care of it.

In order to increase membership & participation; Mert suggested 3 committees:
Membership - To increase membership
Business - To add businesses to the membership
Social - To plan events
Everyone liked the idea. Chris asked about how we communicate with the City. Jane said we go to quaterly NAC meetings & report back. She asked if Lisa would be reporting on the last meeting. Mert talked a bit about SNUG. Mert also said there is a quaterly NAC PAC meeting that plans the NAC meeting. Chris volunteered to go there.

VOLUNTEERS TO HEAD COMMITTEES ARE:
Membership - Lisa & Jane
Business - Brent & Chris
Social - Amy & Jeremy

Mert moved to make the 3 committees with those members assigned to each. Chris seconded it; & it was unanimously approved.

Regular meeting will be on Jan. 30; so signs needed to be placed on the 24th. Assigned sign locations for Chris, Brent & Amy. Amy clarifed that it's always the last Monday of the month. Mert clarified that it sometimes changes for holidays or weather.

Jane asks if our info has been updated to the city. Mert says yes. Brent praises the second place win at the Bass Pro marathon; & that Pam won an award.

Meeting adjourned.
