BRENTWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
JULY 28, 2025
There were 18 attendees (not including speakers); including 5 Board members - Brent Rinker, Chris Schulze, Jane Augustine, Michael Gugliotta & Traci Phelps.
Meeting opened with a kind hello to the absent Secretary. 🙂
SPEAKERS
Alex Espisito & Kara from Family Connection Center
The organization provides safe spaces for families to meet with their kids when they are in the foster care system. Currently at St John’s Chapel Church on Fremont & Republic; but building a new facility on Grant & Chase. Need volunteers to supervise & provide transportation; & donations. They are on FB; & they have a website
Rihanna Harris from Big Brothers, Big Sisters
The organization pairs up “bigs” (adults) with “littles” (children in need) to spend time together; including a school based lunch buddy program. They need volunteers - especially men; & donations of clothing & toys. They will pick donations up from your curb, if you schedule a neighborhood for it. Having Taste Of The Ozarks to raise funds

UPDATES
$500 grant split between Party In the Park & Lantern Walk
Used $912 of $1000 grant to plant 4 Autumn Brilliant Service Berry trees in Kirkwood park on June 9th. They also filled in holes with extra dirt. Trees will be watered & maintained by the city for 2 years. Will discuss in the future what to spend the remaining $88 on.
Update on 2 NAC Meetings since last Brentwood meeting.
In May meeting, most of the events announced have taken place. Asked to participate in the Give 5 program. Springfield Ambassadors meets on Sept 18.
In July meeting, storm pick up dates given by zones. Zone 4 is from Sept 1-5. Celebrate Springfield will be on Sept 7th at Hammons Field from 1-4PM. New City Manager, David Cameron was introduced to all of the current neighborhood associations. Info on getting Neighborhood News.
OLD BUSINESS
Party In The Park was Thursday 6/5. Had 10 new emails added & 70 people attending
NEW BUSINESS
2025 Neat Neighborhood – August clean up day – August 16 at 10AM at Fields
Motion to approve $150 for National Night Out on Aug 5th from 5-7PM Seconded; & unanimously approved.
Clean Up Day with Oak Grove at Enterprise is scheduled for September 20th 8-noon. Postcards should go out a few weeks before event.
Lantern Walk on October 4th
ANNOUNCEMENTS
United Way fundraiser at Mother’s Brewing Co. on September 9th. Cost $30 to enter corn hole contest.
May 4th was Kickball. 300+ people attended. Won Best Neighborhood Program in the country
